The hotel we stayed at last night was right next door to the Waffle House so Lynn, Mary, Karen and I decided to go there for breakfast. We only had 54 miles to do today so we were in no hurry. We aim to try everything while we're here. We got on the road sometime after 9:00am. It was a very pleasant day. Mary and I pulled ahead after a while. The scenery isn't changing a lot. It's still very lush and very green. We crossed the Chattahoochee River at about mile 29. We eventually pulled into the town of Quincy. We stopped at Miss Helen's for lunch. Some of the ladies from our group were already there. It was a very charming little cafe. Miss Helen, who is 74, came out of retirement to open the restaurant about a year and a half ago. She was very pleasant to talk to. We had commented on some of the really nice houses we passed on the way into town and she told us that a lot of the locals had invested in the original Coca-cola company many years ago, and that's where they made their money. Quincy is a very nice little town with a town square, and an old historic courthouse that sits in the middle of it. There were no alligator sightings today, but I did get one of Patti's pictures from yesterday.
43 days down and 6 days to go.
