Day Thirty-seven - St. Francisville to Hammond

We had 87 miles to ride today. After our day in paradise, reality has set back in and we are once again peddling. We did however, start our day with a police escort. They are adding lanes to the main highway into town from the Butler Inn and Ann didn't think it was safe for us on that 2 1/2 mile of road, so she called and got us a police escort through the construction zone. It was very cool! He had his lights on and everything. (more southern hospitality) We made full use of our sags today. We stopped for lunch at about mile 51 at a little grill, then hit the road again. The scenery is beautiful. We passed farm after farm and home after home with lushcious green pastures and lawns. We have had some rollers today for a total elevation gain of 935 feet. Not to bad for the mileage. I haven't been taking as many pictures as I did before. Talking to the other women, they haven't either. It takes alot of time to stop and start and at this point in the ride, it has to be something really different to get our attention. Especially on these 80+ mile days. They tend to be long days and we are tired. Linda fixed us another great dinner, I did my laundry and called it a day.

34 days down and 16 days to go.
