Rest Day - St. Francisville

Today was a well deserved rest day. Half of our group is spending it at the Butler Plantation. The other half are in town at The St. Francisville Inn. Both places are very nice. We usually share a room with a different person each night, but I drew one of the lucky straws this time and had my own cabin for the day. It's a very rustic, homey little cabin and I love it. The Butler Plantation has been in the same family since the late 1700s. I was in the original cook's cabin. I slept in, sat in the porch swing and read my book, and pretty much just had a day of luxury. I took alot of pictures of the grounds, but you really can't get the full effect of the place without the wildlife sounds. The birds singing etc. The woods were alive with music. It reminded me of being in the Amazon in Peru. In one of the pictures you will see what looks like a small bird. It is actually a carpenter bee. They are huge and were everywhere. They don't sting or anything, they just fly around. The owner, Ann Butler, is an author. She has written several books, but the one I want to read is her autobiography. I hear that her husband shot her six times? I can't wait to hear the story behind that. Anyway, it was a very pleasant day and I hope you enjoy the pictures.
