Day Eighteen - El Paso to Fort Hancock

We woke up in El Paso to Texas size waffles. Yes, we are definitely in Texas. Well, after days of inclement weather, hills, and horrible road surfaces, we finally got a break. We only had to ride 47 miles with a total elevation gain of 327 feet. The sun was shining and the road was smooth. Piece of cake. We rode at a very leisurely pace with lots of stops along the way. We stopped at the San Elizario Mission, and a jail that Billy the kid freed his cohort, Melquiades Segura from. The only man to ever escape from that jail. We had lunch at the La Calesa Restaurant in Tornillo. The owner, Manuella, was very sweet and gave us all her card in case we ever came back through the area. I am glad to report that it was a very nice day in all respects.

14 days down and 40 to go.
