111 miles......
Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses!
(as Willy would say)
I said to my roommate last night that if the wind would cooperate with us today, I would kiss the ground when we got here. Well, my camera decided to die today and I couldn't see doing it if it couldn't be documented. So maybe next time. We had a few little sideways gust and a little tailwind from time to time, but overall it was calm and we sailed along. We climbed 3103 feet, but it was mostly rolling hills. Nothing too steep. The temperature was just about perfect, the traffic light, and the road surface, though not perfect, was OK. Out of the 22 cyclist on the trip, only one person sagged a small portion at the beginning. Everyone else completed the ride in record time. Carol said that will probably never happen again. Normally the headwinds are horrible, the temperature is alot warmer, and the few people that do finish, are straggling in pretty late in the day. We also beat the record for the fastest times in. We celebrated with pizza and beer. What a great day! Good night.

21 days down and 31 to go.
We got a little behind and finally sat down and caught up on your travels. It has been quite an adventure and I get tired just reading about it. It sounds like you have some great people to ride with and the logistics are well planned and have added to the success of the trip. The weather here was beautiful this weekend and we had two nice rides, one to Alta and one out of Foresthill to Sugar Pine. Rain is moving back in this week and the weather for Pardee next weekend is iffy. Miss you!
ReplyDeleteWell, reading and thinking about your adventure actually motivated me to walk into a bike store. I was wondering if I'd get 'bike' fever upon entering. Well, there wasn't instant magic or love. I even went as far as speaking with a very knowlegeable sales rep about the possibilites. Still, no magic. But, hey, I walked into the store so you never know. Hope you have another great day!
