Today we rode and rode and rode through Phoenix. We went through neighborhoods that included the upscale areas of Scottsdale, the getto part of Mesa, and everything in between. We rode all day just to get to the other side of town. The riding itself wasn't too hard, but it seemed to go a little slower because we had to stop at light after light after light. We also had to deal with traffic, portions of US60 with little or no shoulder, and a detour that added a few extra miles to our day. Whew!
One of the ladies, Linda, lives here in Phoenix and is part of a local riding club. They all rode out to meet us at one of our sag stops. Again, I have to say we are meeting the nicest people on this trip.
After 62 miles with just about 1100 foot of elevation gain, we finally reached Apache Junction. We are at the base of the mountains that we will start riding through tomorrow. My quads are screaming just thinking about it!
Our kitchen trailer was in the shop today so our ride leaders took us out to dinner at a local resturant. Mike, another one of the ladies, suggested we try to guess what kind of car each of us drives. We wrote our car on a piece of paper and put them all together. As each car was read aloud, we had to guess who's it was. It was amazing how the personalities fit the cars. We had a great time.
Well, that's all for today. Tomorrow the hills,
