OK I'm trying to get caught up here. We didn't have internet in Kingston and it has put me behind. We woke up in Las Cruces to freezing temperatures once again. The low was 27. We waited until about 8:00am to leave, but it was still only about 30 degrees. At least we didn't have any wind. We were all quite surprised as on our way out of town we passed orchard after orchard of pecans. I wouldn't have guessed that New Mexico was so big on pecans. It was a very pleasant day of riding. The road surface was smooth, the traffic was light, and there was no wind. We passed an alpaca farm, we crossed the Rio Grande, and eventually arrived in El Paso, Texas. Of course, that means margaritas! As we rode through El Paso, we were riding within a couple hundred yards of the Mexican border. I hurried right along because I have taken on quite a bit of color and I didn't bring my passport. We got in early enough that we had time to sit in the hot tub, shower, catch up on emails, etc. Linda fixed us a great dinner to go with our margaritas. Amy had the music going and we danced in the parking lot. Our stats for the day were 66 miles with 1079 feet of elevation gain. Not bad!
Tomorrow we're going to Fort Hancock. Carol told us that it will be a very easy day. She said to go REALLY SLOW because there is absolutely nothing to do there. There is no internet, no cell service, etc. She said there are some missions on the way that we should stop and visit. We were hoping for wineries, but oh well.

Looks like a lot of long lonesome roadways. I'm glad you have good friends and good food to look forward to at the end of the day. Enjoy! :)
