Day Three - Jacumba to Brawley

I woke up at 4:00am to the sound of rain on the roof. I layed there and listen to it get heavier and heavier. Oh well, it is what it is. The problem was that when I got out of bed and put my feet on the floor, they were in water! The good thing was that my luggage was on my bed. The bad thing was my roommates was not. It was very wet on the bottom. They don't get much rain here and it's a good thing because more than half of the rooms leaked. The Jacumba Hot Springs is a very different place. Some of the girls referred to it as the "Bates Motel". The coffin in the picture was out side of the rooms?????

We started our ride in the rain and ended it in the rain. We were about as wet as you can be on a bike. The temperature was not too cold so it was wasn't horrible, just WET.
We rode 67 miles. There was a 10 mile downhill that would have been screaming if it weren't for the rain. I missed a turn somewhere along the way, but fortunately I was still heading in the right direction and met up with the group alittle later. They thought they had lost me. After talking to the other girls, I guess I did the right thing. The road the rest of the group took was absolutely horrible. The worst road any of them have ever been on in a car or on a bike. I was the bad sheep of the day.

They are cooking dinner in the parking lot and I smell something really good so I am signing out for tonight!

3 days down and 55 to go!

  4. You are definately on an adventure that will be memorable! Today's ride sounds like one that we don't envy but know the good days will more than make up for a day like today. Bob is surprised to hear that you got lost even though you didn't have Bobbie along to help you navigate.
